BE NOT ATTACHED TO THE "THINGS" OF
THE WORLD
Every year we look longingly out
the window in February when the temperature is still a bit frosty and think to ourselves
"I'll be glad when Spring comes." In Spring everything is new and fresh. We also
want to do "Spring cleaning" - clean out the pantry, garage, basement, and old
things that are no longer usable.
Some people act like pack rats.
They never want to throw anything out. Their homes become so cluttered that there is no
room to walk. We become so attached to our "things" that we can't bear to
separate ourselves from them.
The child of God does not become
attached to the worldly "things". Their minds are on more heavenly and spiritual
thoughts. They know that in a very short time they could be passing on to the next
dimension. In Heaven you will have no need of "worldly things".
When you love the
"things" of the world it is harder to think about spiritual things. However,
when we depend on God totally for our needs; God is able to gradually turn our thoughts
to spiritual ones thereby breaking the spell binding thoughts of worldly
"things".
A motto fits this subject very
well: If you're Heavenly minded you're no earthly good; if you're earthly minded you're no
Heavenly good.
1 John 2:15 - Do not love the
world or the things in the world. If you love the world, the love of the Father is not in
you.
Prayer: Dear Father keep my
thoughts and desire on spiritual and eternal things. Amen
